Challenges for Indian Railway

Challenges for Indian Railway: Railways are the most convenient mode of transport but it has to face too may challenges mentioned below :- 

  • It is difficult to lay railway lines on the sandy plains of Western parts or Rajasthan, swamps of Gujarat and the forested areas of Madya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha and Jharkhand.
  • A large number of rivers requiring construction of bridges across their wide beds create some obstacles in the laying of railway lines. In the hilly.terrains of the Peninsular region, especially the Konkan region, Railway Tracks are laid through low hills, gaps or tunnels requires construction cost .
  • The development of the Konkan railway has opened up the economic development of this region, though it faces a number of problems such as sinking of tracks in some stretches and landslides.
  • The Himalayan regions are also unfavorable for the construction of railway lines due to high relief, scattered population and lack of economic opportunities.
  • Some problems faced by Indian Railways are-

  • Many passengers travel without tickets.
  • Theft and damaging of railway property has not yet stopped completely.
  • People stop train by pulling the chain unnecessarily that causes heavy damage to the railway.
